You need to have that possiblity of death or your PC's could start to do dumb things thinking that what ever they are facing cann't realy hurt me. even a high level PC needs to be cautious. Do you find this valuable?

Pehaps having crits do more damage, like double or triple, and then make the PC's make an easy save to remain alive if the crit kills them Do you find this valuable?

PCs are dumb enough without my superior lucky dice bringing the pain on their asses. I don't mind every single attack not having a chance to kill them outright. There will be plenty of NPC nastiness gunning their way, so the immense # of attacks made against them in a campaign gives too many chances for tragedy.

A random death is harder on a party of 2 it seems. their storylines are so tied together usually that the next Character doesn't fit in well for quite a while.
